In April 1931, following the successful management of seven farms, including Jangseong Farm,
Sudang Kim Yeon-su renamed the company to Samyang Corporation (三養社).

Jongno Headquarters

In 1973, commemorating the 50th anniversary
of its founding, Samyang established its headquarters in Yeonji-dong, Jongno-gu.

Samyang
R&D Center

In 1979, Samyang established the Samyang R&D Center, building upon the laboratory at its Jeonju plant. Samyang focused on enhancing research facilities, improving researcher qualifications, and fostering a productive research environment. This led to the achievement of a total of 78 research accomplishments in various fields, including polyester fibers.

In 1988, the Samyang Group vigorously pursued the development of the Samyang Central R&D Center. Its aim was to enhance and expand the Samyang R&D Center, with the goal of creating a world-class research and development facility. By merging various R&D centers located across the country, the Samyang Group established a consolidated group R&D center thereby creating an integrated, research and development system.

In 2011, with the decision to increase investments in the R&D sector, Samyang began constructing the Samyang Discovery Center, a new R&D facility. the Samyang Discovery Center was completed, featuring an environmentally friendly design that integrated aspects like environmental sustainability, functionality, traditional aesthetics, and considerations for water, energy, and resource recycling. The center was also equipped with cutting-edge research amenities, including shared equipment and specialized labs, to ensure an optimal research environment.

Ulsan
Sugar Refinery

The first established plant of the food business

In the 1950s, the Samyang Group embarked on the sugar industry by building its sugar refinery on reclaimed land in Ulsan. At that time, it was the largest facility in South Korea with a daily production capacity of 50 tons. It also held historical and industrial significance as the first modernized plant in the Ulsan area.

The first established plant of the chemical business

In 1969, Samyang completed the construction of polyester extrusion and drawing facilities at its Jeonju plant, marking it as the first facility in South Korea to have polymerization facilities. This development signified a new era in the fiber business for Samyang's Jeonju plant. Capitalizing on its accumulated expertise in fiber and chemical technology, Samyang expanded further into the chemical sector, such as EP, TPA, PC, and more.

Pharmaceutical Plant

The First Established Plant of the Biopharmaceutical Business

In 1996, the first specialized DDS pharmaceutical plant was completed in South Korea. It began producing medications such as 'Rheumastop' for arthritis treatment and the anticancer drug 'Genexol,' securing its status as the leading domestic producer of Paclitaxel-based anticancer drugs. Currently, Samyang’s biopharmaceutical plant is unique in Korea, being the only one with both EU-GMP and JGMP certifications. It specializes in producing high-quality cytotoxic anticancer drugs, utilizing advanced GMP technology.

PET Plant

The First Established Plant of the Packaging Business

Samyang Packaging's Daejeon plant primarily produces heat-resistant bottles and preforms among PET container products. Since beginning operations with a capacity to produce Coca-Cola PET bottles, it now holds the title of having the largest production capacity in South Korea. The plant has sustained its market dominance through continuous technological advancements, including the development of an Aseptic Filling System. Currently, it is venturing into international markets and managing an eco-friendly plastic recycling business.
